Summary

The bestselling author of WomanCode presents a biohacking program for women, teaching them how to use their natural 28-day cycle to optimize their time, diet, fitness, work, and relationships。

Women have a important biological rhythm they experience every month that affects productivity, weight, sex drive, energy, and mood。 It is essential to be aware of and take care of this rhythm, but it has been widely ignored by medical, nutrition and fitness research。 So as women, we diet, we deprive, and we cram as much as possible into our day, striving to accomplish impossible to-do lists, and scheduling our lives based on a 24-hour time cycle, ignoring the intuitive time our bodies naturally keep: a monthly cycle with four hormonal phases that offer incredible advantages。

In the FLO presents a revolutionary 4-week solution to manage your energy and time according to your female biochemistry。 By working with each phase, you’ll support your hormones, unlock peak creativity and performance, and avoid burnout。 You’ll know exactly when to eat certain foods, clear your social calendar, or ask for a raise—and you’ll have the tools to do so, including:

·       Meal plans and recipes for each phase

·       Charts for phase-specific exercises, work tasks, and relationship activities

·       A daily planner that helps you align with your strengths in each phase

·       A biohacking toolkit for navigating period problems and hormonal birth control

Alisa Vitti, functional nutrition and women’s hormone expert, bestselling author of WomanCode, and founder of modern hormone healthcare company FLOliving。com, has been teaching women how to reclaim their rhythm for nearly twenty years and has witnessed the incredible rewards it offers—including losing stubborn weight, regaining energy, clearing skin, and minimizing PMS。

By getting In the FLO, you’ll get more done with less effort, you’ll feel better consistently throughout the month, and you’ll enjoy the freedom that comes with living on your own time。

Well, let's start with the positives。 I learned a lot about female anatomy and physiology, and I felt much more validated in my hormone fluctuations being a natural part of being a female。 I was initially drawn to this book because the thought of adjusting my exercise and diet lifestyle to my hormones made a lot of sense。 I have been looking for a way to tune into my body and work with it, rather than put more stress on it。 This book offered many helpful tips and a lot of science/research to exp Well, let's start with the positives。 I learned a lot about female anatomy and physiology, and I felt much more validated in my hormone fluctuations being a natural part of being a female。 I was initially drawn to this book because the thought of adjusting my exercise and diet lifestyle to my hormones made a lot of sense。 I have been looking for a way to tune into my body and work with it, rather than put more stress on it。 This book offered many helpful tips and a lot of science/research to explain the why and what to do。 I found it interesting when the author talked of past health research being all to nearly all male participants! Based on the information it is both frustrating and exciting (in the sense that there is still so much to learn!) that research on the function of the woman's body is behind。 I am excited to implement the suggestions in chapters 4 and 5。The main negative is that there is a stark feminist ideology throughout the ENTIRE book。 It is clearly meant to fuel that social agenda。 I mean, talk about male bashing, hints of angry, and superior tone。 I did not mind reading the facts, but I had to skip/skim many paragraphs to get to the plain facts。 I wish I did not have to sift through so much opinion to get to the facts of the matter, and because of that I won't give it more than 2。5-3 stars。 As a female, I don't think that the harsh, male detesting language or victim mentality does either gender any good。If you want a jumping off point for cycle syncing, this is a good book for it。 All the basics are there。 。。。more

I think everyone should read this。 Insightful and encouraging, this is a resource you can reference often and share with those you love。 While primarily written for women, I learned quite a bit and hope to use that knowledge to better understand my wife and enrich our relationship。There are quite a few times where it was obvious the author was selling her system, app, and more books, but that is to be expected。 It is easy to quickly gloss over those sections and find the important info。 Also, de I think everyone should read this。 Insightful and encouraging, this is a resource you can reference often and share with those you love。 While primarily written for women, I learned quite a bit and hope to use that knowledge to better understand my wife and enrich our relationship。There are quite a few times where it was obvious the author was selling her system, app, and more books, but that is to be expected。 It is easy to quickly gloss over those sections and find the important info。 Also, definitely consult your doctor before making any drastic changes。 That’s super important。 。。。more

3。5 stars for now。 It was SO wordy。 So it was slightly obnoxious read。 Rehashing a lot of previous statements。 Round and around。 Which is a bummer because I think the content, theories, whatever are really interesting and I’m excited to try this cycle syncing。

This book opened my eyes to so much we don't know about female health。 Everyone needs to give this a read, it's quite technical but it's so informative and every woman can benefit from reading。 This book opened my eyes to so much we don't know about female health。 Everyone needs to give this a read, it's quite technical but it's so informative and every woman can benefit from reading。 。。。more

Why did I decide to read all of these period books at the same time? I think this book would have been more helpful years ago (I wish I had it as a teen, or when my endo was flaring up in my past)。 She aims to have readers fit to her path。 The usage of her "flo" verbiage was a bit much at times, but I did find much of this book useful and interesting。 Why did I decide to read all of these period books at the same time? This is an aha book! As someone who has worked in the health and fitness industry for years, I have done my fair share of reading books on nutrition and exercise and this is the first book of its kind, at least that I know of, that addresses how we should be working out and eating based on our cycle! It's such a thoughtful approach and makes so much sense! You trust in the education Vitti shares because you can relate given how you feel during each phase, and honestly, it makes so much sense! Fascinating book! Highly recommend to all women, especially those who are menstruating and/or have daughters nearing or of menstruating age。 This book offers a refreshing approach to the wonder of women's bodies while explaining what is happening when and how to schedule your entire life (diet, work, social, parenting, etc) for maximum benefits based on your menstrual cycle。 Like I said, fascinating! I can't wait to implement some of these strategies and share them with my daughter。 I would love Fascinating book! I learned so much from this book! I wish I would have had this information when I was young。 Now at the tail end of my cycle it feels revolutionary but also too late。 This was a well written and well researched topic and I will/am walking my young daughter through this。 I wish she would have gone a little more in depth about what foods to eat when but that may just be my need for an exact road map。

There is a lot of really good information in here, and I think it’s worth reading just for the charts that show how you can adapt based on what phase of your cycle your in。 I gave it a low rating for two reasons: the author claims the book if a safe space for all gender identities and it didn’t feel like it to me。 There is a emphasis on women and no gender inclusive language。 Secondly, the whole book feels like a advertisement for the authors supplements and programs。 She goes so far as to repea There is a lot of really good information in here, and I think it’s worth reading just for the charts that show how you can adapt based on what phase of your cycle your in。 I gave it a low rating for two reasons: the author claims the book if a safe space for all gender identities and it didn’t feel like it to me。 There is a emphasis on women and no gender inclusive language。 Secondly, the whole book feels like a advertisement for the authors supplements and programs。 She goes so far as to repeatedly share the link for purchasing her products。 I wish that instead of filling the book with fluff and promising you could learn more if you sign up online, she had honored the fact that people paid for the book and deserve to get the information。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book, and wish it was out there when I was younger - or that someone taught me this info。 I'm well aware that weight training is different depending on where you are in your cycle。 If you do it for enough years you already see the pattern and when you have to adjust。 I just didn't realize that other aspects would need to be adjusted, like nutrition, work and social life。The only thing I wish the book covered was how they determined which foods should be eaten during which c I really enjoyed this book, and wish it was out there when I was younger - or that someone taught me this info。 I'm well aware that weight training is different depending on where you are in your cycle。 If you do it for enough years you already see the pattern and when you have to adjust。 I just didn't realize that other aspects would need to be adjusted, like nutrition, work and social life。The only thing I wish the book covered was how they determined which foods should be eaten during which cycle - because the winter/summer/fall/spring thing doesn't make sense if you look at it based of Chinese medicine or Ayurvedic medicine, meaning the foods aren't correct based on what they say。 I do agree with some reviews that there was a lot of trying to get you to download the app (and even when you go to the links provided, you have to pay to actually get the useful information)。 As well, more time was spent telling you how much your life will change, but not enough on what you have to do。 And the whole feminist thing。 But overall I still loved the book。This is a 9-10 hour audio。 。。。more

This book had a lot of interesting insights。 I was very happy to learn some science about the endocrine system, biological clocks, etc。 The information in this book will definitely continue to be useful throughout my life。 However, although the information was valuable, I didn't find the reading experience itself ultra-enjoyable。 The book can get a little bit "fluffy" and preachy at times, with many anecdotes about women who started using the Cycle Syncing Method and had their life changed。 Alth This book had a lot of interesting insights。 I was very happy to learn some science about the endocrine system, biological clocks, etc。 The information in this book will definitely continue to be useful throughout my life。 However, although the information was valuable, I didn't find the reading experience itself ultra-enjoyable。 The book can get a little bit "fluffy" and preachy at times, with many anecdotes about women who started using the Cycle Syncing Method and had their life changed。 Although it needs to be heard, it did get a bit redundant。 I would still recommend this book as an intro to female physiology because of the value of its information。 。。。more

I agree with a lot of the reviews already here。 This book has a some really practical gems of information and it is encouraging an important conversation, but the repetitive padding throughout and pitch of the products meant my initial enthusiasm dwindled about a third of the way through。 I wanted less of the 'sell', and more of the actual 'how-to'。 I agree with a lot of the reviews already here。 This book has a some really practical gems of information and it is encouraging an important conversation, but the repetitive padding throughout and pitch of the products meant my initial enthusiasm dwindled about a third of the way through。 I wanted less of the 'sell', and more of the actual 'how-to'。 。。。more

Honestly this book had great information in it。 If it wasn't trying to cram its aggressively anti-male vein of feminism down my throat and to constantly remind me what a victim I am of the patriarchy (gag) I would give it 5 stars。 Hopefully awaiting a Catholic version that contains all the science and cycle insight but combines it with sound theology about God's gift of femininity。 Honestly this book had great information in it。 If it wasn't trying to cram its aggressively anti-male vein of feminism down my throat and to constantly remind me what a victim I am of the patriarchy (gag) I would give it 5 stars。 Hopefully awaiting a Catholic version that contains all the science and cycle insight but combines it with sound theology about God's gift of femininity。 。。。more

This book is pretty much a must read for every woman, in my opinion。 It has SO much good information, and it just makes so much sense - while reading it I just felt。。。 so validated。 And started to really understand many things I've questioned about myself in the past。 The author is VERY positive and as a general rule encourages small additions to your life, rather than taking things away。 I think that her suggestions, whether adopted on a small scale or large one, can make a huge difference (and This book is pretty much a must read for every woman, in my opinion。 It has SO much good information, and it just makes so much sense - while reading it I just felt。。。 so validated。 And started to really understand many things I've questioned about myself in the past。 The author is VERY positive and as a general rule encourages small additions to your life, rather than taking things away。 I think that her suggestions, whether adopted on a small scale or large one, can make a huge difference (and I'm personally excited to see how my own life changes as I start working with my body instead of against it)。The book is not without flaws。 For instance, there are several references to the author's website and the app she created for cycle tracking/meal planning/etc。 Many of the linked references are entirely free, but there are some paid options you can get to if you go to her website。 A lot of reviews I've seen complain that her book is sales-pitchy and has no substance。 I will agree that, at times, it feels a bit sales-pitchy。 But here's my take: she found something that she feels is really great, shared it with people who also experienced a lot of good changes from it, and then decided to expand to share it with more people。 When the word started spreading, she was able to build an entire brand around the concepts she teaches, and it seems she's trying to send you towards her additional resources as a way to help you adopt her suggestions。 Regarding people saying this book has no substance, though? Objectively false。 The book is full of very specific suggestions on every part of life she covers (eating, exercise, work, sex, motherhood, etc。)。 She provides paragraph explanations (with research cited, by the way) for everything she says and then sums it up in a nice little chart at the end of each section。 Another flaw I feel this book has is in the fact that some of her suggestions are not entirely practical for all women - although I acknowledge this is a complaint that every book ever will face。 For instance - she suggests trying to plan your major work tasks based on your strengths at different times in your cycle。 For many women, especially those working blue-collar jobs, that's just not very possible。 She does, however, acknowledge that there will always be times when you cannot perfectly time everything, and provides alternate suggestions for working around this。 One final complaint - the use of the word 'biohacking'。 I hate it。 I despise it。 It makes me cringe。 Any phrase that includes the word 'hacking' (growth hacking, for instance) just makes my jaw clench。 If I could pick one single thing to change about this book, I'd remove all instances of the word 'biohacking' and replace it with something more palatable。 Overall, the book is very much worth the read。 I learned a lot, and I'm so excited about making some small changes to my life and seeing what happens。 If I don't see significant improvements, then I guess that's that - but this all feels so incredibly intuitive。 At the very least, you should read the book to get a better understanding of the way your body works (because, as the author points out, most medical/fitness/diet/sex research has excluded women)。 。。。more
